June was another busy month for bass music in America. Things kicked off in Brooklyn for Reconstrvct vs. Outlook with special guests V.I.V.E.K, AuthorPinch, and Jack Sparrow, alongside residents Joe Nice and Truenature. Audio from Author’s set is linked at the end of the post.

In the Midwest, Joe Nice made his long awaited return to Chicago for Bassweight at Smart Bar. Joe showcased brand new dubplates, including a world exclusive first play of DMZ – Misty Winter pt 2. Video footage from the night is linked below, and full interviews / documentation is coming soon.

Down south, Gritsy played host to Goth-Trad, who toured the States off the back of his album New Epoch. New Zealand natives Truth continued to gig across the country, and start up their own night at Ritual San Francisco called Deep, Dark and Dangerous – the newest in a growing number of foundation sound nights in the US. Elsewhere in California, SMOG’s Sunday Sessions continued to set the bar for monthlies, attracting international talent including Von D and MRK 1 alongside homegrown talent Kelly Dean and Eshone, respectively.

US producers released quite a bit of music this past month – Dubtek returned to form, dropping two quality tearout tunes entitled “Doin’ Wrong” and “Cerebral”. Grenier AKA DJG released a brand new 12″ on Photek consisting of “Say Something” / “Here Come The Dark Lights”. Both tunes delve into techno territory, retaining a 4×4 groove in place of a traditional half-step vibe.

July looks to be another big month, with Digital Mystikz hitting Los Angeles, Houston, and other cities as well as Coki doing several solo gigs, Seven beginning his US tour, Kahn debuting in the States and many more parties showcasing the low end across the country.
